LOCAL 1201 Firemen & Oilers of Philadelphia

 Pro Support Systems (PSS)  serves as the preferred provider for Orthotics for all Union Local 1201 members and their families. The preferred provider agreement between Pro Support Systems, Inc. and the Firemen & Oilers of Phila. Local 1201 provides for all members and their families to receive comprehensive health care coverage for orthotic appliances as determined to be medically necessary.

A prescription for one pair of custom molded orthotic appliances per year will be paid directly to Pro Support  Systems (PSS) by the Union benefit plan.

The Union currently provides Pa Blue Cross/Blue Shield Personal Choice for medical coverage in all cases.  Under Personal Choice, orthotic appliances are not covered.  As a result of the preferred provider agreement with PSS, the Union members and their families will now have the opportunity to receive PSS orthotics from a PSS preferred provider and are not responsible for any balance for the cost of either the device or the casting.

The Provider  will perform an examination, take a cast impression and provide a prescription for the orthotics.  The  Provider will charge Personal Choice for all applicable office visits, x- ray and surgical fees directly to PA Blue Shield.  The insured will be responsible for the co-pay on these services.  The Provider will not, however, charge the insured any fees related to casting for the orthotics and the orthotics.  The Doctor will be expected as part of his reimbursement for office visit services from Blue Shield, to make every attempt to fit and dispense the orthotics in a timely and professional manner. Orthotic orders for Union members will be sent exclusively to the PSS lab. No direct or balance billing to patients for orthotics and casting will be allowed.

Additionally, routine foot care reimbursement will now be allowed for 7 yearly visits for podiatry nail care at $40/visit.
